Problem: Enhancing Sustainability through Modular Green Roofs Essay

Write an internal (in-house) or external proposal. The topic of your proposal must be environmentally related and requires that you work in groups. Each group has $25,000 and the project must take place on the SJSU campus. Standard number is five members in a group.

What to do:

You will need to research the topic and present a persuasive proposal.

Throughout the semester or session, you will meet with your teams to brainstorm, decide on a topic, research and plan, write collaboratively, draft and edit, then submit a final copy to your instructor via canvas.

This proposal is not a straight research paper. However, research is involved in the process of preparing your proposal. For your proposal, your team may propose a new technology or process as a solution to an environmental problem. For example, the team may do research on some alternatives to fossil fuels and suggest the best alternatives for the city of San Jose, or the San Jose State campus. Your team may want to request funding to develop a product that helps a community address an environmental problem or reduce its carbon footprint. You may want to request funding from venture capitalists for help in developing a material that eats the plastic that is polluting the ocean.

Whatever your team chooses as its topic, you will have to develop a persuasive argument to establish the need for your suggestion, and present clear steps for implementing your idea. You will need to establish who you are, and who your audience/potential clients or customers are. You may make your team a fictitious company, or a non-profit, educational or governmental institution. For details about proposals see the following section of the Markel textbook.
