Assignment: Self-Assessment and a Personal Action Plan
To plan for personal development, you must first assess your readiness for successful consulting roles. Through a reflective process of self-assessment, you will better understand your strengths and weaknesses relevant to consulting. As you learn more about a successful consulting engagement in this course, you will further reflect upon and analyze your readiness.
Complete a self-analysis based on the list of competencies in the appendix to the following journal article: Behavioral competencies, goal setting, and OD practitioner effectiveness (By O Driscoll, Michael P; Eubanks, James L.)
On the basis of the outcome of your self-assessment, develop a personal action plan. Your personal action plan should:
1. List and explain your skills, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors related to:
• Contracting
• Data utilization
• Intervention
• Implementation
• Interpersonal skills
• Group process management
• Maintenance of client relations
2. List, describe, and explain barriers and challenges to your readiness for the role of a consultant.
3. Include a detailed plan of action to reinforce and maximize your strengths and overcome weaknesses.
4. Include a discussion of how your plan will affect your work in your current role and as a consultant.
