Analyzing Employee Performance
In this assignment, you will practice applying your SPSS analytics skills to analyze employee performance. Again, you will find this module's Edwards chapter especially useful when doing this exercise.
Assume that you have been asked by JKL corporation to investigate employee performance at the firm. Over the years, it appears that the average performance ratings of its staff have been decreasing and the CEO would like to know why. The company only collects the employee data shown in the Module 8 dataset . Using that dataset, answer the following questions and perform the following tasks:
1. If JKL believes the amount of business travel an employee takes has an effect on his/her performance rating, what statistical test if any would you use to test that assumption? Could you develop a model to predict employee performance based on the amount of business travel? Why or why not?
2. Using 'performance rating' as your criterion variable, conduct a multiple regression analysis using age, monthly income, years at company, job satisfaction, and distance from home as your predictors.
Once your analysis is complete, create a table that shows Multiple R, R2, and the Beta value for each dependent variable.
• Based on your results, what are the major determinants of an employee's performance rating at JKL?
• Given the variables in your analysis, is there anything the company can do to improve employee performance?
• Assume JKL corporation is considering increasing employees' monthly salary by 5% to help spur higher performance. Based on your regression analysis, how much of a difference, if any, do you predict that 5% salary increase will have on employee performance?
Limit your response to each question to no more than one paragraph each.
