Currently, the growth of the halal product market in Asia Pacific is moving beyond market attractiveness. This can be seen from the growth potential of the halal hair care sector such as hair conditioner and shampoo.
Andrew McDougall, Global Analyst at analytics company Mintel commented in his report entitled Growing population outpacing product present opportunity for halal haircare which states that the Muslim population in the Asia Pacific region provides an opportunity for the halal hair care segment. This is because the Muslim population will increase by more than 73% in the period 2010 to 2050, this opens up considerable opportunities for halal product manufacturers to expand into market segments that are quite untouched.
Reporting from the Cosmetics Design Asia website, the presence of this opportunity is also due to the increasing number of Muslim women in the Asia Pacific region who use hijab and hair care products as a solution to maintain the health of their hair.
In recent years, the number of hijab users has increased, this is also accompanied by the launch of halal haircare products in Muslim countries. However, Mintel has identified that to date very few companies provide hair care products specifically for closed hair. This is also in line with the marketing and promotion of products targeted at hijab users.
With so few players in this sector, it certainly opens up huge opportunities for hair care producers to reap a lot of profits, especially considering the large number of hijab users in this region.
By providing something that consumers want, manufacturers of hijab hair care products will certainly be increasingly loved by hijabers in Asia Pacific countries where the majority of the population is Muslim.
