Written Assignment -
TWO assignments written assignments this week. IPDP and job description. Follow instructions below.
1. Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP)
Northern Lights Career Development Center has several options for formats, along with a guide on how to develop your IPDP: Early Childhood Career Ladder | Vermont Northern Lights"
An IPDP is a guide designed by you to increase your knowledge, skills, and expertise for working with children and their families over a period of time in any setting. Your IPDP will have four key parts: A self-assessment, Prioritizing and goal setting, Strategies and resources, Timeline. A director or manager of an early childhood program needs to understand how to support staff in their professional development and what tools are available to support them. If you have already entered your professional development information into the Bright Futures Information System (BFIS), refresh and update. Then, upload a copy to assignment notepad. BFIS is a statewide database for early childhood and after-school information. It does many things; one is that it houses professional development information for individuals. If you are not currently a director or manager, review samples for various positions and find one that fits your current position (or if not in position, select introductory position), fill out and upload to assignment notepad: you do not need to enter in the system
2. JOB DESCRIPTION
Develop a job description using the Vermont Early Childhood Core Competencies for your current position (or if not in position, develop for one selected in first part of this assignment). Current directors also have the option of adapting this assignment for a position at their center. The job description you create will include the points listed below and I expect you to add information from our discussion forums in terms of mission, philosophy, professional aspect of position, and any other pertinent items you've learned that will encompass the 'whole picture' of the position as well as the community:
- education needed to be in the position
- necessary skills needed to be in the position
- position expectations
- professional development expectations
- how the position will be evaluated
Note - Please check the website links and use and textbook screenshots.
