You have been elected by your peers to be the Health and Wellness Champion for your class. Your role is to develop a health and wellness program based on the needs of students in the class.
Read the instructions below and post your responses in this week's discussion forum entitled Student Health and Wellness Programs.
Step 1: Survey your peers or conduct research about the unique health and wellness needs of students in your class. Identify 2 health and wellness priorities based on the needs, interests, trends, or health and wellness challenges facing students in your class.
Step 2: Recommend one health and wellness intervention for each of the priorities identified in step 1. Briefly describe each intervention and how it will work in no more than 2 or 3 bullet points.
Step 3: Prepare a brief communication (no longer than one paragraph or 2 to 3 bullet points) to raise awareness about your health and wellness program, with the intention of inspiring student participation. This can include an engaging tagline or program name to attract attention.
Tips for completing this task:
-Take some time to conduct research about student health and wellness before recommending interventions. As you learned in Module 6, the best workplace programs are built in response to clearly identified needs.
-Think about the unique needs affecting students in your specific class (e.g. graduate students, distance education, work-life-school conflict, physical and mental health issues, environmental stressors, financial pressures, upcoming final assessments, etc.)
-Consider the likelihood that the interventions you have recommended will actually be adopted by students in the class. What, if any, barriers might prevent students from participating.
-Think about how you can motivate students to participate and develop a creative name, image, or tagline for your program in Step 3.
