Raising money is an important function of a nonprofit. Donations made can help the nonprofit successfully meet its mission. Fundraising is short-term in nature, while philanthropy focuses on a person's or organization's relationship with and commitment to an institution. Having a well laid out plan can enhance a nonprofit's success in meeting its goals.
I have to come up with a hypothetical nonprofit, described my nonprofit, develop either a fundraising plan or philanthropy plan, and draft an email to the volunteer workers.
My hypothetical nonprofit: Food is collected and distributed from restaurants and motels that are no longer serving food to help those in need by delivering them to organizations that are serving hungry people in the community.
- Describe your hypothetical nonprofit.
- State the name.
- Identify the type of nonprofit it is and why you are categorizing it as such.
- Come up with a mission statement for the nonprofit.
- Discuss what your nonprofit does to satisfy the mission statement.
Develop a fundraising or philanthropy plan.
Include one goal, two objectives to meet the goal, and two strategies that your nonprofit will do to meet the objective in your plan.
- Be sure to keep in mind the scope, timeline, and purpose of your fundraising and philanthropy goals.
Explain how your plan supports fundraising or philanthropy.
- Be sure to distinguish between fundraising and philanthropy.
Come up with an email to those overseeing the volunteer workers who are helping with the fundraising and philanthropy efforts of your nonprofit. This email should include the following:
- motivation strategies
- your preferred management theory and how the management theory can be used
- at least two challenges you might foresee
- suggestions for overcoming these challenges
