Desert Paradise Landscape Design and Maintenance designs, installs, and maintains residential landscapes. They are a slowly growing business in the rapidly growing Phoenix metropolitan area. The company is organized as shown in Figure 1 below. The company has about 25 full-time employees and occasionally hires part-time workers during rush periods. The Marketing and Sales team is responsible for getting new business. The Design team develops custom landscape plans for new and remodel projects. The Installation department is made up of two 4-person crews. The Landscape Maintenance department includes four 2-person teams that currently service about 70 lawns each week. The workload varies with seasonal changes. The Equipment Maintenance team does general vehicle, equipment, and tools maintenance. The Administration department handles payroll, scheduling, accounting, ordering materials, etc.
