Purpose of Assignment:

The purpose of this assignment is to develop a credible resource library and reference guide for continued work with children and families with exceptional needs.

Course Competency:

Evaluate support and advocacy resources for children with exceptional needs and their families

Instructions:

Create an online resource library you can share and use with colleagues, as well as, children and families with exceptional needs. The online resource library will include both virtual and print materials and websites, which cover a wide variety of resources for families and colleagues at both local and national levels.

This online resource library is submitted through one of the following means:

On a self-developed web page or blog pages with active links
Google document with active links
PDF document with active links
Word document with active links

Content:

All content must be focused on working with children and families with exceptional needs. All content should be supportive of your particular program or professional circumstances. All websites and webpages must be credible and cannot include Wikipedia or similar sites.

For each of the listed resource collections be sure to complete the following:

provide a thorough descriptive paragraph of the resource
include a paragraph describing all the ways you can use or plan to use the resource- connecting it to your particular program or professional circumstances
the correct APA reference citation and active link
Resource Collections:

Five (5) resources, organizations, websites/webpages on particular exceptional needs
Five (5) family/parental support resources, organizations, websites/webpages- two (2) should be local to your program or community.
Five (5) research or journal articles on interventions, strategies or best practices for working with children- all must be within the past 5-10 years.
Five (5) educator support resources, organizations, websites/webpages
Three (3) local or national advocacy tools, strategies, websites/webpages
Three (3) particular assessments/screening tools for determining whether a child has exceptional needs
