Case Study: Design as a sensory experience
• The purpose of this assessment is to develop a concept design plan for either a hotel lobby based on a client brief. This may include an outside terrace area as well.
• You will need to provide a minimum of 1 concept design plan created by you.
• You must also include a mood board which will display visual images for the:
o colour scheme
o materials used for the floors, wall, ceiling and windows
o furniture - including chairs, tables and reception desk
o lights - eg, pendant, in-ceiling, in-wall, chandelier, etc
o window style - eg, full length, arched, panoramic
o window treatments - eg, drapes, blinds, shades, etc
• You must also include a written concept statement and describe your plan in detail, including your reasonsfor why you have made certain decisions (including sustainability reasons).
• Your presentation must be written in your own words.
• You will be given practical help in the development of your concept plan and mood board.

• There is no limit on your budget.
You are required to provide a concept plan with supporting material based on the given scenario.
• You must create a diagram to clearly represent your concept design.
• You must also create a mood board to communicate the essential elements that are part of your plan.
• Your plan must have supporting information to show how guests will interact within the proposed space(s), and also explain how you have addressed sustainability.
