Assessment Task

Assessment Details

The objective of this assessment is to develop a comprehensive understanding of an HRM function as outlined in a case study selected from a list that will be provided. The case study will relate to a major area of HRM to provide students with an opportunity to research this area and to increase the knowledge. The report focuses on research and analysis, by analysing an allocated case study that relates to the topic selected.

The case study will enable students to discuss a series of concepts pertaining to a specific area of HRM and link the concepts to the business world context of the case study. Students will need to undertake a significant amount of research to ensure their analysis and linkages are complete. The discussion must not rely solely on the material contained in the case study - reference should be made to examples of similar real life experiences and to current HRM practices as outlined within the literature.

Group Presentation

Time limit is (10 - 12) minutes, scheduled in weeks 8

Students will be required to present, the analysis, findings and recommendations of their research. The presentation should not simply involve students reading out answers to case study questions. The case study is merely the basis for the presentation. Students should look for innovative and interesting ways to present

Your presentation will be marked both for process (how your present) and for content (what you present).

You are encouraged to use creative methods such as interactive discussions, simulations, experiential exercises etc. A straight 'lecturing (or worse still) note-reading style will be regarded as a mediocre presentation and marked accordingly. Students can complete a youtube video or Camtasia video.

Group Written Report (20%)
This case study report will provide answers to case study questions, a summary of your findings and key learning that you haves made from completing the case study. Word length is 2,000 - 2,500 words.
