Research proposal
Purpose: The purpose of this assessment is to enable students to develop a comprehensive research proposal, equipping them with a strong understanding of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method research approaches. This task is designed to enhance students' abilities in crafting key components of a research proposal, including the introduction. literature review, and research methodology, as well as developing tools such as survey questionnaires and interview guides. Furthermore, students are required to outline the expected outcomes and contributions of their study. while acknowledging its limitations. The assessment also emphasises the importance of ethical considerations and project planning, requiring students to create a Gantt chart and complete ethical approval forms. By doing so, it aims to prepare students for real-world research challenges, fostering a solid theoretical foundation alongside practical knowledge for conducting research projects. This task contributes to achieving the learning outcomes listed in table 2.8.
Task Details: Students are required to prepare a detailed research it includes the following elements:
Suggested Structure for the report:
1 Cover Page: The cover page should contain the title of the research project, consistent with Assessments 2 and 3, along with the authors name, student ID, the lecturer or supervisor's name, and the word count (excluding the abstract, references, and appendix).
2. Abstract and Keywords: Provide a concise summary of the report's key findings and themes in the abstract. Additionally, include five relevant keywords that capture the essential themes of the research.
3. Introduction: This section should outline the background and context of the research, including the problem statement. It should articulate the research objectives, present the research questions, define the scope of the study and significance of the (research.
4. Literature Review: Conduct a comprehensive review of relevant literature related to the research topic. Synthesise key information, highlight gaps in the existing research. Get it solved now!
o In a qualitative study, this section should include theme-based discussion.
o In a quantitative study, this section should include the theoretical framework, the underpinning theory, and the proposed hypotheses
literature review from Assessment 2 can be utilised.
5. Research Methodology: Provide a detailed explanation of the research methodology employed (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed method), including the research paradigm, approach, and data collection method applicable for the project. Justify the selection of the target population, sampling method, and sample size.
o Develop and Include an interview guide (semi-structured) for qualitative research.
o For quantitative studies, define the conceptual and operational variables. Besides, design a survey questionnaire in google form and add it in Appendix. Information from Assessment 3 can be utilised in this section
6. Results and Implications: Discuss the expected findings and their potential significance. Reflect on the study's contributions to the field, its limitations, and possible directions for future research. This should also be integrated into the conclusion.
7. Time Frame: Develop and include a Gantt chart to represent the timeline of the research project (duration 12 month) consent forms) include them in appendix (fill-up only).
8. Ethical Approval: Attach completed ethical approval documents (i.e. KOI approval form and participant
References: The report should include a minimum of 30 credible sources, with larleast 90% sourced from Google Scholar. The articles should be drawn from recent literature, preferably published within the past five years.
Appendix: Attach any supplementary materials, including questionnaires, interview guides, and ethical approval forms in this section, as applicable.
Presentation:
Convert the report into a PowerPoint presentation consisting of 10-12 slides.
During the presentation, students should maintain a formal, academic/professional tone.
Students are expected to dress formally and be prepared to answer questions from the lecturer and audience, demonstrating their knowledge of the research project and its rationale.
