You work as a support worker for an organisation that provides services that support people in the local community. Najla is a 24-year-old woman who has suffered a recent spinal injury requiring permanent use of a wheelchair. She is currently unemployed and on Jobseeker allowance. She is living in a small flat that is not suitable for her needs and she has no carer. Her family want her to move in with them so they can care for her, but Najla sees this as a backward step for her. While this is upsetting for the family, they say they would support it if it were possible, but they do not believe it is and have not investigated further. She wants to be independent but does not know how to achieve this. She has come to you for assistance. Her parents are not with her but are willing to discuss the issues with you.

Develop a case plan for the client that demonstrates:

(a)How you supported the person to develop and used your personal resources, (record in case notes) including:

Listening to the person's stories and experiences
Working with the person to explore desires, possibilities, and goals
Encouraging the person to develop and maintain relationships with family, friends, support networks and service agencies
