Legal action can serve multiple purposes. It can provide a means of justice for the victim, holding the perpetrator accountable and be a deterrent for future misconduct. It also sends a clear message that such behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Employers are thus encouraged to foster a safe and respectful workplace, implementing policies and training to prevent bullying and address it promptly when it occurs. Unfortunately, many employers only make significant changes when there is a monetary price for not doing so.
