ASSIGNMENT:

Given: Bending Strength (Modulus of Rupture; fB) equals the load the wood can withstand perpendicular to the grain, so it is of concern when determining the size and span as related to Floor Joists and their ability to safely support the loads experienced by the floor. A related consideration to Floor Joist Grading is another Parameter. It is not necessarily related to failure, as is the Modulus of Rupture, but rather to the important consideration of what is experienced by individuals as they walk across the floor.

Discuss: What this Grading is and how it relates to the experience of walking across a floor that has been properly engineered regarding Bending Strength, but perhaps with disregard to this related consideration.
