Organizational Restructuring

Organizational restructuring often involves a modification to the organization's design and/or structure. In fact, many organizations conduct a regular restructuring, giving employees new titles or job descriptions, or perhaps creating, combining or dividing department.

Assume the organization you are studying currently operates under the functional structure, but has agreed to modify its structure at the request of a consultant. Select any of the other four common organizational structures discussed ( in Chapter 12 textbook organizational development) and discuss strengths, and weaknesses, or moving your organization from its functional structure to the structure you have chosen. Importantly, discuss the barriers the organization would encounter as it transitions to its new structure and how that structure may reenergize and reinvigorate the organization.
