  1. Its been charged that Olympism is not really a philosophy because it does not have systematic propositions and it offers only a short and vague written text. Do you Think Olympism should be developed into a more traditional philosophy, or do you think it works well as it is?
  2. Olympism is said to promote a particular human ideal. Try naming some people who reflected that ideal. Do they have to be of a certain race, sex, or ethnicity? What do they have in common?
  3. Olympism suggests that sport promotes "universal fundamental ethical principles": a common example is fairness. Can you think of another fundamental ethical principle that is universal (i.e. common across cultures)? Can you think of an ethical principle that is specific to certain cultures and does not cross over?
  4. Olympism's political goal is to promote peace, partly by bringing diverse athletes together in an atmosphere of friendship. Do you think this atmosphere is expressed in today's Olympic Games? Are there aspects of the Olympic Games that work against the goal of peace?
