Class, I think this is an important distinction. We tend to think of critical thinking as being a process and being able to engage in the process is important. As the questions change over time, you want to be able to engage in the critical thinking examination. If we only have answers or solutions to issues and problems, then we can't create new solutions when the facts change. This is where the process is an important and essential factor.
I think of this as kind of a critical thinking juggling act. In saying that one is more important than the other, we might leave out important pieces. In fact, both the process and the outcome are important. If I can't engage in the process, I can't adapt to changes in culture, society, my industry, and so on. If I can't evaluate or create the solution, then I am unable to solve problems.
