A step by step procedure is given for applying the quadratic formula to solve for x. The quadratic formula considered is as follows: x^2-x-6=0. In this example the quadratic formula is presented with an explanation of the meaning for each term in it. The process is shown for how to assign values to each element in the quadratic equation. Finally, the solution for the x values are produced. The steps and descriptions given in this solution can be used to solve thousands of other equations using the quadratic formula.
