A man in his mid-40s goes to a local emergency department (ED) for non-life threatening stomach pains and after being seen promptly by a triage nurse, is left in an exam room for more than 60 minutes Although the nurse checks on the patient every 15 minutes and has administered a mild painkiller, the man is told the physician is tied up with several automobile accident victims that were just brought in The patient, who has visited this ED before, is disgruntled because the wait time has never been this long
