An archer releases a 0.025 kilogram arrow at a 50 degree angle with the horizontal with 300 meter per second of initial velocity. He strikes a 0.42 kilogram barn swallow in midflight at the apex of the arrow's trajectory. The barn swallow was flying on a trajectory 30 degree from the horizontal of the arrows path. The bird died instantly and fell from the sky.

a) Determine the component of the arrow initial velocity.

b) Obtain the horizontal and vertical velocity at the apex of the arrow flight.
