XYZ Tech company is trying to prep for a future in which many, if not most, employees (approx. 200) won't come into the office every day. The company is taking advantage of empty offices, as a result of recent remote workers from the covid pandemic and the subsequent changes to office/remote culture, to reconfigure the workplace for a new era in which employees will have more options to do their jobs remotely, with some choosing to either work at the office or some other hybrid schedule. The new office design calls for common workspaces and more freedom to choose where to work, including providing areas where employees can plop down with their laptops for the day.
The question being asked is, "How do we redesign these footprints now, so that when a team has to come in, it is more set up for collaboration?". The new workspace will be arranged with the expectation that many or most employees will be working remotely at least one to two days per week. It is understood that there will be a need for more joint spaces where employees can meet and collaborate, and fewer individual work-stations.
Assume that XYZ Tech company has hired you as a consultant to identify and manage the projects and the team needed to redesign their workspace to allow more flexibility and collaboration for employees.
For this case study, please address the following topics:
Question 1. Discuss how the Project Manager (you) for this project could identify and develop the team to support the five process groups and ten knowledge areas discussed in Chapter one.
Question 2. Describe how the Project Management Team can identify the strategic objectives necessary to develop a Project Charter.
Question 3. Since this is such a large project, develop a scoring model to determine which projects should be completed first.
Question 4. Describe how the Project Manager can develop a milestone schedule to manage this process.
