In the countercurrent distillation of Benzene-Butane binary system, vapor and liquid phases involve both components together. Latent heat of benzene for vaporization is approximately equal to 1.6 times of butane's latent heat of vaporization. The rate of liquid flow getting into the tower from the top is L2 = 100 kmole/hour and xA2 = 0. Rate of vapor flow getting into the tower from the bottom is V1 = 100 kmole/hour and yA1 = 0.50. It is required for the vapor phase concentration to be reduced to yA2 = 0.10 value at the end of the operation. According to this data;
a) Determine which component is benzene, which is butane of A and B components.
b) Find the relationship between NA and NB.
c) Write down the mole fractions of the components for the top and bottom points of the column.
d) In order to draw the operation curve of the system find a third pair of xA - yA.
Show all the steps in the mechanism for the following reaction, When benzene is mixed with deuterated sulfuric acid, deuterium is slowly incorporated onto the ring. Show the mechanism for this reaction and explain how this relates the sulfonation of ..
