An application layer entityr in one station wants to send an vayte message to its peer process in another station over a TCP connection. The TCP segment consists of the message plus 2t] bytes of header. The segment is encapsulated into an [P packet that has an extra 211] bytes of header. The IF packet is in turn encapsulated into an Ethernet frame that has a header and trailer. If the maximum allowed Ethernet payload (including IF and TCP headers) is 1590 bytes, combined size of the Ethernet header and trailer is 18 bytes, and L = 2 KB:

  • Determine whether segmentation is required. If'so, how will the message be segmented?
  • Calculate the percentage of transmitted bits in physical layer that corresponds to message L.
