Engineers at the General Electric turbine division are trying to improve an existing adiabatic steam turbine that receives 100 kg/s superheated steam at 10 MPa and 800 oC and after expansion and producing power, the spent steam exits the turbine at 1 MPa and 500 oC. Please help the engineers determine what would be the maximum possible percent increase in the power for the same mass flow rate, inlet conditions and outlet pressure? Also what is the reduction in oC for the exhaust temperature under the maximum power output ?
