You're riding on a cart, carrying a box, moving at an initial speed of vi. You throw the box off the cart such that it lands at rest (zero velocity with respect to the ground so that the ground doesn't have to exert a horizontal force to stop the box). If the box has 1/2 the mass of you and the cart, what will be the final speed of the cart (with you still on it)?
