WRITING ASSIGNMENT- Early Learning Standards Maryland

Using the Maryland Early Learning Standards, identify THREE standards within the Language and Literacy domain that apply to year 1. Please provide the strand, the standard, and the outcome for the age group selected using the structure defined in the example below:

EXAMPLE

Strand: Reading Literature

Standard: Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.

Outcome year 1: Demonstrate increasing vocabulary and comprehension by using words and phrases (e.g., repeat repetitive phrases from a story).

Description: how the standard/outcome is supported in classroom

Using a minimum of 150 words for each standard selected, write a description of how the standard is supported/satisfied within the classroom. Your description should include the age group of the children, teaching strategies/techniques, examples of the use of those teaching methods, and the desired goals/objectives for children. The three standards should be identified and explained separately. The strand, standard and outcome are NOT included in the word count for the description.
