The two half-reactions: MnO2(s) + 4 H+ + 2 e- equilibrium reaction arrow Mn2+ + 2 H2O(l) 2 IO3- + 12 H+ + 10 e- equilibrium reaction arrow I2(s) + 6 H2O(l) are combined at 25oC to form a cell which is galvanic under standard conditions. What is the potential (volts) of the cell at 25oC when the appropriate beakers are constructed to have MnO2 = 0.0127 mols, [H+] = 0.0130 M, [Mn2+] = 0.167 M, [IO3-] = 0.146 M, and I2 = 0.0154 mols ? [Note: The standard reduction potentials of the two above half-reactions, respectively, are 1.220 and 1.200 volts at 25oC.]
