You are to perform a dynamic pile load test on a24-inch OD open ended homogeneous pipe pile. The pile has a shellthickness of 0.5 inch and is 80 feet long. Calculate:

a) a.) Compression wave velocity(hint: E=29x106 psi, g=490 pcf)

b) b.)The total time for the compression wave to travel down to the tip and to reflect to the top of thepile.

c) c.) If the pile is to be driveninto a dense sand layer and with very little skin resistance from the soils above it, which one of the following force-velocity plotsis most likely to be observed.

d.) If the toe reflection is detected at about 5 ms afterhammer impact, please determine the location of the pile damage.
