Question: Barney is the winningest basketball coach in the history of Central State University. His five-year contract is set to expire at the end of this season. The university's athletic director (AD) has been authorized by the board to offer Barney a new five-year contract with a substantial salary increase, plus greater flexibility is cutting his own deals for product endorsements. Having reviewed and signed the new contract, Barney stopped by the AD's office to drop it off. But before he can remove the signed contract from his briefcase, he's told by the AD that the latter had a conversation with his counterpart at Eastern State, and that Eastern State really wants to hire Barney for their own floundering program. Barney asked his AD what he thought he should do. The AD relied, "If I were you, I'd hold onto that contract and give Eastern a call."
