The force F required to compress a spring a distance x is given by F - Fo = kx where k is the spring constant and Fo is the preload. Determine the work required to compress a spring, whose spring constant is k = 37 kN/m, a distance of 2 cm starting from its free length (i.e., Fo = 0 kN). Also, determine the power required, in Watts, to compress the spring in 0.5 seconds. Please draw a picture that illustrates the problem.
