A gas in a piston-cylinder assembly undergoes an expansion process for which the relationship between pressure and volume is given by pV^n = constant. The initial pressure is 4.25 bar, the initial volume is 0.25 m^3 and the final volume is 0.55 m^3.

a) Determine the work for the process with the value of n = 1.75, in kJ.

b) If the change in specific internal energy is -72 kJ/kg and there are no significant changes in kinetic or potential energy. Determine the net heat transfer for the above process with the value of n = 1.75. Assume the mass of the gas to be 0.5 kg.
