Consider a portable 20cm2 fuel cell operating at 0.75V, 0.6 A/cm2. Suppose the stoichiometry of the anode is 2.0 and that of the cathode is 2.3. The fuel cell is expected to run for 3 days before being recharged. The cathode runs off of ambient air, and the anode runs of of compressed hydrogen.
a) Determine the volume of the hydrogen fuel tank required if it is stored as a compressed gas at 200 atm (20.26MPa), 298 K.
b) How large would a pure oxygen container need to be if it stored oxygen at 200 atm (20.26MPa), 298 K?
Hint: You will need to use to find number of moles used in 3 days. We will also assume that we are considering ideal gases, and so you can use the ideal gas law to solve for volume.
