A ball of mass 100 gram travels toward a catcher of a ballistic pendulum of length 1.0 meter. The mass of the catcher is 200 gram. Suppose that all the mass of the pendulum is in the catcher. The ball and the catcher stick and collide together. Their speed after the collision is 1.2 meter per second. The ball-catcher system swings together and is vouch by a ratchet. The gravitational acceleration on earth is g = 9.81 m/s2.

a) Determine the velocity of the ball before the collision?

b) Find the change in the momentum of the ball during collision?

c) Find at what height is the ball-catcher system caught by the ratchet?

d) Determine how much energy is lost in the collision?
