From the list of approved screening tools provided below, select a tool that either screens for or assesses a specific problem. Use this instrument with a family member, classmate, or a friend. Please keep in mind the nature of your relationship and select a screening tool that will not deal with issues of great sensitivity.

The important aspect of this assignment is your experience using and evaluating a screening tool, not finding clinically interesting information about non-clients. Understand that your family member, classmate, or friend is engaging in this voluntarily and you should treat the results with sensitivity.

Screening Tools:

• The Caregiver Strain Index

• The Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test (MAST)

• Zung Self Rating Depression Scale

Please address all of the elements in the questions below, but write your paper in narrative form using APA style. Please review 4 to 5 journal articles, or published research for this assignment. The title page does NOT count as a content page to meet the page requirement.

Using your experience with this screening tool to provide examples, write a 4 to 5 page paper that provides:

1. Your rationale for choosing this screening instrument;

2. Determine the tool's strengths and limitations from the published research, and from your own observations;

3. Your observations about your ability to use this screening instrument with your voluntary "client";

4. Your ability to understand, interpret scores, and communicate the results to clients;

5. Your ability to communicate the results to other professionals;

6. Potential ethical issues in using this instrument in a practice setting; and,

7. Your suggestions for improving the use of this tool with clients (changes you'd make to the administration of this tool, additional areas of training you need, etc.).

Please keep in mind the nature of your relationship and select a screening tool that is not related to an issue your volunteer has expressed concerns with or you believe they have. The important aspect of this assignment is your experience using and evaluating a screening tool, not finding clinically interesting information about non-clients.
