An air compressor operates at steady state with air entering at p1=1 bar, T1 =17 C and exiting at P2=5 bar. The air undergoes a polytropic process for which the compressor work input is 162.2 kJ per kg of air flowing. Determine: a. The temperature of the air at the compressor exit b. The heat transfer in kJ/kg of air flowing c. Sketch the process on a p-v and T-s diagrams and indicate the work and heat transfers. i. Assume ideal gas and neglect kinetic and potential energies.
