Subcultural theorists may believe the middle-class crime has a relationship to "gangs" as other criminologist say there is no clear link between the two.

The middle-class has establish social and ethnical norms that reflect in subcultures. Some subcultures are typically labeled with a membership title or some sort. These members are expected to have loyalty to its membership rules or norms. The most influenced members are the youth of the middle class.

When young people start to identify themselves with a group they tend to dress, talk and act in a way that gets them socially accepted in a group (Pinquart, M.). Boys have higher levels "Gangs" give young people a purpose, belonging or added personal protection (Nwalozie, C. J.). Youth is also influence by friends, classmates, social media and teachers.

Sometimes parental influences can have very small effects on parents trying to diminish externalizing societal problems and parental influences decline in value as the child ages (Nwalozie, C. J.). Furthermore, associations in most cases are bidirectional and can needs to be looked at by a case by case basis. This allows the middle class youth to be prime victims of "gangs" leading to increase rate of crime.

Children look for idols or roll models to emulate. Children value moves and video games that tend to be violent and/or in gang related material. People are influenced by media and tend to react in emotional or violent ways as shown on social media. "Gangs" just operate under a different set of rules such as "street creed" or recondition.

However, people of the middle class might be influenced to join a "gang" but the middle class social norms are separate from the "gangster way of life". Subcultures coexist in a society, isolated from mainstream and band together for mutual support (Pinquart, M.).

Each gang has its own subculture rules and some might not even endorse a crime lifestyle. Subcultural theorization tends to suggest "deviants" in a larger society are related to subculture issues (Nwalozie, C. J.). It's similar to the majority people who make the middle-class dictate which subcultures are socially acceptable or not.

The middle-class are also the majority voter and can politically and economically control social issues within the subcultures of these society. The US has many different cultures influences from all over the world. Some people believe some laws or way of life are more or less important depending on where you live. Some people believe that laws or rules don't apply to them because of whom they are within a subculture. Some people have money to influence others to believe a wrong is right while others less capable.

The middle-class drive the rules and norms which force subcultures to follow or repent both political and economic values. Also, males are the majority voter in the US and males in general tend to control "gang" ideology as identified in post-subcultural studies and current subcultural studies (Pinquart, M.). Criminal behavior is ambitiously egoistic and monopolistic in middle-class and/or "gang" related crime (Pinquart, M.).
