Problem 1

The pendulum bob of mass m is projected from rest at A by the spring with stiffness k that is compressed a distance δ. For the first part of the motion, the cord is wrapped around the peg at D, giving the pendulum a length of l. After the cord reaches the horizontal position, the length of the pendulum becomes 2l. Determine the speed of the bob and the tension in the cord when the bob is in positions B and C. Point B is located on the path where the length of the pendulum is still l, that is, immediately before the cord becomes horizontal. Point C is located on the path where the pendulum is vertical.
