ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

This assignment will allow you to demonstrate your understanding of the political system in Canada. The political system determines the structure and the role of the Canadian legislatures and governments - both on federal and regional/provincial levels. (Naturally, when we speak about regional governments, we have the provincial government in Ontario in mind.) You will demonstrate understanding of the Canadian legal system and the classification of law.

Task of the assignment: To understand the dual origin and function of the legislative and the executive branches of the government in Canada - on federal and on provincial level; the division of jurisdiction between the Federal Parliament and the provincial legislatures; the authority of the legislators to create statutes and the authority of the executive branches of the government to create subordinate/delegated legislation - regulations. Illustrate your understanding with appropriate examples of law.
