The axially loaded bar ABCD is held between rigid supports as shown below. The bar has cross-sectional area A1 = 1 in2 from A to C and 2A1 = 2 in2 from C to D and is subjected to an axial force P = 50 kips as shown.

Determine (a) the reactions at A and (b) displacement at point C if the modulus of Elasticity E = 30 x 106 psi and L = 8 ft.
