A manufacturer makes absorber plates that are 1.4 m x 1.0 m in size for use in solar collectors. Consider such a plate placed horizontally outdoors in calm air at 30°C. Surface temperature TS of the absorber plate is 110C. Back surface of the plate is insulated.

If the emissivity of surface is 0.8 determine the rate of heat loss by

(a) natural convection and

(b) radiation.
