In an irrigation system sometimes water must be pumped over long distances. Consider a system that consistes of a 1 m diameter, 2 km long commercial steel pipe, which connects a river to an irrigation canal.

a) Neglecting minor losses, determine the pumping power required (in kW) to produce 2.5 m^3/s of water.

b) What would the pumping power be if the canal's e;evation is 50 m higher than that of the river? Use water properties at 15(degrees)C
