Two hydrolic cylinders are connected in series as follows. The rod side port of cylinder #1 is connected to the piston side of port of cylinder #2. The rod side port of cylinder #2 is connected directly to tank. Oil is supplied to the piston port of cylinder #1.

Cylinder #1 has a 3.25 inch diameter bore with a 1.5 inch diameter rod and a load of 10,000 lbs during extension.

cylinder #2 has a 2inch diameter bore with a 1inch diameter rod and a load of 3000 lbs during extension.

1) Determine the pressure on the piston side of cylinder #1 during extension

2) If 5gpm is suppled to the piston side of cylinder #1 determine the extension velocity of both cylinders.
