Two cars of collide in a glancing collision and stick together. Before the colli- sion the first car (mass of 500 kg) is moving with velocity 25 m/s at an angle of 30%u25E6 North of East and the second car (mass of 650 kg) is moving with velocity 15 m/s at an angle of 160%u25E6 North of East (or 20%u25E6 North of West).
(a) Determine the momentum of each car in a suitable Cartesian coordinate system. Be sure to define your coordinates.
(b) If the two cars stick together and move as a single object after the colli- sion, what is the momentum of the two-car object after the collision? What is the two-car object%u2019s velocity?
(c) What was the velocity of the center of mass of the two car system before the collision? How can you compare this with your answers to (a) and (b) above?
A sphere of radius R is uniformly charged to a total charge of Q. It is made to spin about an axis that passes through its center with an angular speed ω. Find the magnitude of the resulting magnetic field at the center of the sphere.
