The Freons(chemical found in many old refrigerators and A/C units) are a class of compounds containing chlorine(Cl), carbon(C),  and fluorine(F)  to be responsible for the depletion of the O3 in the upper atmosphere., 2 replacement compounds for the Freons have gone into production: HFC-134a (chemical formula: CH2FCF3) and HCFC-124 (formula:CHClFCF3) In 1991.
