A rotameter is to be designed to measure a maximum flow of 10 gpm of waterat 70?F. The bob has a 1-in diameter and a total volume of 1 in3. The bob isconstructed so that the density is given in accordance with Eq. (7.31). The totallength of the rotameter tube is 13 in and the diameter of the tube at inlet is1.0 in. Determine the tube taper for drag coefficients of 0.4, 0.8, and 1.20. Plotthe flow rate versus distance from the entrance of the tube for each of these dragcoefficients. Determine the meter constant for use in Eq. (7.32) and estimate theerror resulting from the use of this relation instead of the exact expression inEq. (7.28).
