Refrigerant-134a with volume flow rate of 30,000 L/min and 2% moisture content enters an adiabatic compressor steadily at 180 kPa and exits at 1.6 MPa. The power input to the compressor is given at 500 kW. Neglect the kinetic and potential energies. By applying appropriate mass and energy balances,

(a) Determine the mass flow rate of the refrigerant

(b) Analyze the isentropic efficiency of the compressor and its outlet temperature

(c) Illustrate the process in the compressor on an h - s diagram by indicating all pressure, enthalpy, and entropy clearly.

For the same compressor, assume the surroundings to be at 25°C. (Hint: Dead state condition is based on water properties). By applying appropriate mass and exergy balances,

(d) Analyze the exergy at the outlet condition (in kW) and the minimum power input required by the compressor

(e) Calculate the second-law efficiency and the exergy destroyed
