Capital Markets Assignment -

About the Assignment: This is a group assignment for a selected company which is listed in the stock exchange. This assignment is undertaken in groups of 3 throughout the semester. Each group must select a company which is listed in the stock exchange at the 1-2 week of the semester. The student can select the company from the:

Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), Sydney
New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), New York
London Stock Exchange (LSE), London
Tokyo Stock Exchange (JPX Group)
Shanghai Stock Exchange, (SSE) Shanghai
Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Hong Kong.
Any other stock exchange with the lecturer's approval.

Each student group needs to analyse the selected company based on the available public information. Please follow the point number 5 (The main heading of the assignment) to structure your assignment. Each assignment should provide five years of analysis. Please do some research before selecting your company to make sure you have information available for the company assignment? Once selected, you cannot change your selection. Please note, you need to provide two company names in the second week to your lecturer. You cannot select any bank for the assignment. Your lecture will provide more information during the class about the selection procedure of your company for the assignment.

Objective of the Assignment - The followings are the main objectives of the assignment:

To analyse a listed company on the perspective of an investor.
To analyse the sources and uses of funds of the selected company and determine how the changes (year to year) impacting its performance.
To analyse how the changes of sources and uses of funds are affecting the company profitability and share price.
To determine the market competitiveness of the selected company and how it is changing over time during the observation period.
To provide a superior critical analysis based on the numerical data.

Interim Progress Report and Presentation -

Every group of students has to present and submit an interim progress report on week 5/6 of the semester (during the tutorial/lecture hour)
The group needs to present the report in front of the class during the last week of the semester.
Each group member should present in the final presentation.

The main heading of the assignment: Please note the company assignment should reflect the following things (not limited to)

a) An introduction and background of the company.

b) Key investment decisions taken last 5 years.

c) Sources of funds in balance sheet.

d) Uses of the funds of the balance sheet.

e) Analysis the sources of the funds.

f) Analysis of the uses of the funds.

g) Balance sheet and profitability analysis in light of the analysis of sources and uses of funds.

h) Competitiveness in the market for last 4 years and how it is impacted by point C and D.

i) Market value of the company shares and market capitalization analysis.

j) Findings.

k) Conclusion and Recommendation (if any).
