A 3 phase, 50 Hz, 4 pole, 11 kV, star connected cylindrical rotor synchronous generator with synchronous reactance of 60 Ohms/phase is operated at rated voltage, with a line current of 50 A, and with an induced EMF of 8 kV per phase (line-neutral). Determine the magnitude of the current when the machine develops its maximum gross power with the excitation held constant.
