A quantity of air initially at 1 bar, 300K, undergoes two types of interactions: (a) it is brought to a final temparture of 500K adiabatically by a paddle-wheel work transfer, (b) the same temperature rise is brought about by heat transfer from a thermal reservoir at 600K. Assume T0=300K, P0=1atm. Determine the irreversibility (in kJ/kg) in each case and comment on the results.
